🌄 A Journey through Faith, Mountains & Hidden Valleys
If you dream of a road trip that blends divine energy, apple-scented villages, and rugged Himalayan beauty, the Kinnaur Loop is your calling.
Starting from Shimla, the route winds through cedar forests, ancient temples, and snow-capped peaks — taking you to the heart of Himachal’s mystical Kinnaur valley.
🗓️ Day 1: Shimla → Narkanda → Sarahan
Leave early from Shimla, passing through Kufri and the scenic apple town of Narkanda.
Take a detour to Hatu Peak for a panoramic view of the Greater Himalayas.
By evening, reach Sarahan, the gateway to Kinnaur, surrounded by lush pine forests and mountain serenity.
📍 Stay: Sarahan
🙏 Visit: The sacred Bhimakali Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas — a stunning blend of Himachali and Tibetan architecture.
🗓️ Day 2: Sarahan → Reckong Peo → Kalpa
Drive along the Sutlej River through steep mountain roads and charming hamlets.
By afternoon, reach Kalpa, a picturesque village overlooking the Kinnaur Kailash Range.
🍎 Walk through apple orchards, sip local tea, and watch the sunset turn the Shivling Peak golden.
📍 Stay: Kalpa
🌄 Highlights: Roghi Village, Suicide Point, and the serene Kinnauri landscape.
🗓️ Day 3: Kalpa → Sangla Valley
Descend from Kalpa and follow the Baspa River into Sangla Valley, often called the Switzerland of India.
Explore Kamru Fort and the charming wooden homes of Sangla town.
📍 Stay: Sangla or Rakcham
🌸 Tip: Try local trout fish and Kinnauri shawls.
🗓️ Day 4: Sangla → Chitkul – The Last Village of India
A short drive takes you to Chitkul (11,320 ft) — the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border.
Walk along the Baspa River, feel the crisp air, and chat with friendly locals.
The small Mathi Temple here is over 500 years old and adds to the village’s charm.
📍 Stay: Chitkul
🌄 Must Do: Watch the sunset over the snow peaks — an unforgettable sight.
🗓️ Day 5: Chitkul → Rampur → Shimla
